Something happened in my mind as we rolled through Las Cruces yesterday: I was reminded of being in my early twenties in Rapid City. Those days before kids may have been as formative as anything prior to them; Rapid City became as much my home as where I was raised, on the east coast. The hot summer days, although brief, were full-to-bursting with potential. Hike, bike, boat, swim, dine, play – we did it all, so young and in love. It was a second childhood.
